In memory of the greatest conductor of all time, La Toscanini promotes talented young conductors with a competition named after him.
This edition of the Arturo Toscanini International Competition falls on the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Arturo Toscanini Orchestra.
The Competition, founded in 1985, is a member of the prestigious World Federation of International Music Competitions in Geneva, which hosts more than a hundred competitions worldwide. Established by Valdimir Delman, who was the creator and president of the first juries, this competition is considered one of the world’s most important contests for discovering new conducting talent. There have been several musicians participating in the competition, including Kazushi Ono, Carlo Rizzi, Gyorgy Gyorivanyi Rath, Stefan Anton Reck, Stanislav Kochanovsky and Kirill Petrenko, now at the helm of the Berliner Philharmoniker.
